As a native of Chicago Scott has always had a passion for music. He grew up listening to a wide variety of musical styles picking out the beats to his favorite Rock n' Roll, Motown, Soul, and Rhythm and Blues recordings. From an early age he knew the drums were going to be his thing.
While growing up Scott jammed with friends for fun but also wanted to study music more seriously. He began his musical career at William Rainey Harper College then transferred to Northern Illinois University as a Music Major. He was surrounded by talented students and studied with outstanding professors. Being immersed in music full time was a dream come true. During this time Scott put his knowledge to practical use leading his own society band performing in Chicago. Working his way through school playing music professionally was part of a real world education.
After graduating from NIU with a BM in Music, Scott continued to lead his group and freelanced with other ensembles in the Chicago land area. He used his musical knowledge to work at several different music companies in Illinois and Iowa. Duties included; instrumental repair, sales, service, and road representative. Concurrently he was teaching private lessons sharing his enthusiasm for drumming with his students.
Scott is very active as a performer, teacher, and student, constantly researching his craft. It is not uncommon to find him at percussion clinics, taking college level classes, and studying with masters of the instrument. Keeping up to date with music trends and the next generation of musicians is a full time gig in itself. His commitment and passion has not diminished over the years.
Scott has been teaching and performing music in Rochester since 1997. His wife Kim is the band teacher at Kellogg Middle School and his young son Zac loves music and plays that's right, the drums.
